SUSPECT CAUGHT BY CITIZENS DURING BREAK AND ENTER INCIDENT

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) Thanks to the help of concerned citizens, a man was arrested on January 22nd at approximately 1pm for a break and enter incident that occurred at a Concession 5 residence in Alfred-Plantagenet.

A local man was driving by the said residence, known by the passerby to be vacant. He noticed a man standing by a vehicle in the driveway. The concerned citizen turned around to check on the suspicious person. The suspect got into his car and managed to leave the yard before the arrival of the concerned citizen. The passerby noticed, as he entered the yard, that the front door had been forced open. He then tried to catch-up to the fleeing vehicle, in vain.

The passerby called his father who was looking over the vacant residence for the owner.
They made their way back to the residence where they found a man hiding in the bushes nearby.

The man fled but was later caught in the woods by the family of the concerned citizen who came out to help. The man was then turned over to police upon their arrival on scene.

– section 348(1)(a) Break & Enter with Intent
