SUSPECT APPREHENSION PURSUIT RESULTS IN CRIMINAL CHARGES

(MOOSONEE, ON) – On September 21, 2014 at 9:56 pm the Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of Hutchison Road. Officers immediately patrolled the area in attempts to locate the suspect driver.

The vehicle was located on Fifth Street driving in an erratic manner. Before officers were able to conduct a vehicle stop the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed. The pursuit led officers to Pisew Street where the driver of the suspect vehicle lost control and entered the ditch. The driver immediately fled the area, however after a short search officers were able to locate and arrest the male. The driver and three passengers were unharmed.

As a result of this incident Richard HARRISON (36) of the Town of Moosonee is charged with the following:

Operation of a motor vehicle while ability impaired contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Operation of a motor vehicle with excess of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Dangerous driving contrary to 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Flight while pursued by Peace Officer contrary to Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was issued with a 90 day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension. He has been released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on 4 November, 2014 at 10:00 am to answer to his charges.
