SUSPECT APPREHENSION PURSUIT ENDS IN ARREST

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Thursday September 19, 2013, at approximately 12:02 a.m., officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a white Dodge Ram pickup truck motor vehicle traveling eastbound on County Road 17 near Lacelle Road in the Township of Champlain.
Provincial Constable Mario Gratton attempted to stop the motor vehicle after determining that the vehicle was travelling in excess of 190 Km/Hr, the driver failed to stop. A spike belt was used but the vehicle continued with police following.
Driver continued to Grenville, Quebec where the vehicle pursuit ended at a residence, the driver attempted to have police shoot him by pretending to pull out a gun, police responded with pepper spray on a few occasions, suspect then entered the residence, police entered, the suspect was combative with police. The conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) also known as a tazer was used and suspect arrested, without injuries.

M. Alain FILION, a 53 year old male from Champlain Township, Ontario is facing the following charges:

Race a motor vehicle
The male is presently in custody. He is scheduled to appear for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in L’Orignal later today.
