(Centre Hastings, ON) – On November 14, 2015 at 11:40 p.m. a member of Central Hastings O.P.P stopped a car for speeding on Highway #62 near Sills Road in the Municipality of Centre Hastings. The car was travelling 140 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 kilometre zone.
As a result the 22 year old driver Ryan REID of Quinte West, ON was charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Performing a Stunt.
In addition on November 10, 2015 at 10:25 a.m. a member of Central Hastings O.P.P observed a southbound van in the process of passing two other vehicles on Highway # 62 near Slab Street in the Municipality of Centre Hastings.
The van reached a speed of 134 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 kilometre zone and was subsequently stopped by the officer. The driver was also found to be driving without a licence.
As a result the 26 year old driver Joshua MAROIS was charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Performing a Stunt and Drive Unlicenced. The vehicle owner, a 47 year old female of Madoc, ON was a passenger in the van and allowing the unlicensed male to drive. She was charged with Permit Unlicenced Person to Drive Motor Vehicle.
In both incidents the drivers had their licences seized and their vehicles impounded for a period of seven days.
