Stranger Danger

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Friday April 11, 2014 between 1:00 – 2:00 pm an incident took place at the town docks in the village of Haliburton – Municipality of Dysart et al, Ontario. A young female was walking in the area when she was approached by a lone male who asked the girl if she wanted to go for a ride in his vehicle. The female did not go with the male, and left the area. Officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently seeking the public’s assistance in this matter. The suspect in this incident is described as:

Male – white,
Late 40’s – early 50’s
5’10” – medium build
Short/medium brushed back hair, unshaven
Blue jeans, construction boots, red plaid flannel jacket

The suspect vehicle is described as an older style dark blue passenger minivan with tinted windows and rust on the majority of the front bumper. The licence plate on the vehicle was not obtained.

The OPP is asking Haliburton County parents/guardians to remind their children to not accept any invitations from strangers and report any such incidents immediately.
