Stormont Dundas Press Releases

(North Dundas) – On May 28, 2016 at approximately 3:54pm, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a business property on Queen Street, North Dundas Township (Chesterville). Investigation indicated that an adult male customer became verbally aggressive towards an employee and threw items at her (no injuries). He was then observed mistreating a pet dog in the parking area as he entered his vehicle. Further information also revealed the accused was later engaged in an altercation with his common-law spouse resulting in damage done within the home.

The 27-year-old male was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault with a Weapon

– Cruelty to Animals

– Mischief – Domestic

He was released and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on July 5, 2016. His name is being withheld in order to protect the names of the victims.

(North Glengarry) – On May 30, 2016 at approximately 8:12am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation at a residence on Dominion Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated that an altercation between a male and his girlfriend resulted in the female being assaulted. The male also threw an item at the victim. Further information revealed he was in contravention of conditions imposed from previous incident. No injuries resulted.

The 24-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with;

– Assault with a Weapon

– Assault

– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

BREAK-IN/THEFT

(North Stormont) – Overnight (May 29-30, 2016) a storage structure located on a commercial property was entered on Allaire Road, North Stormont Township. Assorted hand and power tools were taken. An All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was possibly used at the scene.

An investigation continues.
