(SD&G) – The adverse weather received over the past weekend (February 11-13, 2017) across the United Counties resulted in several traffic related incidents. Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a total of 98 (Stormont-27, Dundas-15, Glengarry-56) calls for service consisting of collisions (1 fatality, added to OPP News Portal 11Feb17 – several resulting in minor injuries) and vehicles in ditches/median.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
(South Glengarry) – On February 10, 2017 at approximately 9:54pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on County Road 34, South Glengarry Township. The vehicle was intercepted and the adult female driver was found to be under the influence of a drug. Upon arrest, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was seized.
Mary CHENIER (36) of North Glengarry Township is charged with;
– Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired by Drug
– Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on March 8, 2017.
ASSAULT
(Cornwall, ON) – On February 10, 2017 – SD&G OPP began an investigation into a reported assault incident which had occurred at a residence in the City of Cornwall between January and February 2017. Investigation indicated that an adult male has assaulted a family member (male youth).
A 37-year-old male from Cornwall, Ontario was arrested and is charged with:
– Assault
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 14, 2017. His name is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
