Stormont Dundas OPP Press Release

DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A VEHICLE

(South Stormont) – On September 27, 2016 at approximately 12:29pm, an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) officer attempted to intercept a vehicle for speeding on Highway 401, South Stormont Township. The vehicle failed to comply with the request and continued on until it was successfully intercepted by officers on Highway 138, South Stormont Township (near St-Andrews West). At one point when the vehicle stopped at a traffic light, an officer walked up to the vehicle and attempted to disable it but the driver drove off dragging the officer a short distance. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries and released. The male driver became resistant with police when finally arrested.

Jeffrey SAMPLE (30) of Ottawa, Ontario is charged with;

– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

– Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer

– Assault a Peace Officer

– Resist Peace Officer

He was held in custody pending an appearance (bail) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(South Stormont) – Overnight (September 26-27, 2016) – a vehicle was entered as it was parked at a residence on Grantley Drive, South Stormont Township. Inside, a DELL laptop computer, assorted clothing and personal identification items were stolen.

An investigation continues.
