STOP TO DRIVER TRAVELING WRONG WAY ON HIGHWAY

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON.) -The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members responded to a call of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 403 and then onto the Highway 401 at approximately 11:04 a.m. on July 7, 2014.

Initial reports stated that the vehicle was observed traveling the wrong way, at a high rate of speed on Highway 403 and then made its way onto Highway 401, continuing to travel westbound in the eastbound lanes.

OPP temporarily stopped eastbound traffic on Highway 401 at Oxford County Road 6 for public safety.

OPP located the vehicle, and were able to safely stop the vehicle on the Highway 401 at the eastbound service centre near Ingersoll.

Charged is 29 year old Mark SALOIO of Hamilton with the following:

Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle ~ Criminal Code of Canada
Fail to stop for Police ~ Highway Traffic Act
Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams ~ Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The male was released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on September 2, 2014.
