(THUNDER BAY, ON) On October 20, 2015, officers from the Ignace Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Highway 17 in Ignace Township. The vehicle failed to stop for police and police lost sight of the vehicle. Shortly after, the vehicle was located on a side road in the area of English River. At the scene, Officers located a piece of identification believed to belong to the suspect.
On October 21, officers from Upsala, Ignace and Thunder Bay OPP responded to a report of another stolen vehicle that was east bound on Highway 17 from the English River area. Officers searched for the vehicle and located the vehicle and suspect on a bush road west of Upsala.
Jeffrey NAVEAU, 37 years of age from Edmonton, Alberta was arrested and charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 and Theft of Motor Vehicle.
He was held in custody for a video court appearance and remanded into custody to the Thunder Bay District Jail.
