Stolen Vehicles Recovered – CLUETT & COX Arrested

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – On the 22nd of August 2017 around 2:30p.m. an alert citizen spotted a stolen pickup truck near Kinkora, ON. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the area and was able to locate the stolen vehicle in the area of Bornholm, ON.

Police approached a male who fled the scene, a foot chase ensued and the male was taken into custody without incident.

A second male was spotted on a blue ATV and also made the choice to flee from police. Perth County OPP along with the Perth County and Huron County Street Crimes Unit set up containment in the area of 49th Line and highway 23. The OPP’s Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team members were on route to locate the fleeing male. This male was later located in the area of 49th Line on foot by uniform members of the Perth County OPP.

As a result of the males attempt to elude Police, several Farms in the area received damage to their crops.

As a result of the investigation to date the following two males are charged. Joseph CLUETT age 22 of North Perth Ontario with:

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code X2

– Flight while being pursued by peace officer contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code

– Mischief – destroys or damages property contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code X 3

– Break and enter contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

– Possession of a schedule I substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act X2

– Driving while ability impaired by drug contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

– Fail to comply with probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code X2

– Driving while under suspension contrary to section 53(1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act

William COX age 19 of Stratford, ON with:

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

– Possession of a schedule I substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances

– Break and enter contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

– Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 93(a) of the Criminal Code

– Failing to comply with recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code

– Driving while under suspension contrary to section 53(1.1) of the Highway Traffic Act X2

Police recovered a previously stolen 2006 Grey Chevrolet Silverado and a 2008 Blue Polaris ATV.

Both accused were held for a bail hearing on the 23 of August in Stratford Criminal Court.
