On Monday, March 31, 2014 citizens reported circumstances to the London Police Service about a vehicle that was being driven within the city, that caused them concern. The circumstances include the speed the vehicle was being operated, visible damage to the truck, the age of the driver, etc.
The vehicle was stolen overnight from an address on Bellwood Crescent.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., the pickup truck was located at the south end of Robin Hill Road. Four young offenders were arrested at or in the area of this location.
As a result of the investigation, two 15-year-old males and one 15-year-old female have been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– theft of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 333.1(1); and
– possession of property exceeding $5000 obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a).
One of the males was further charged with fail to report accident, contrary to section 199(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The fourth young person was released by way of a warning. The three young offenders that were charged, were all released from custody with conditions.
On March 31, 2014 at 10:05 p.m., the male that was charged with the Highway Traffic Act offence was arrested after breaching conditions he was released on earlier in the day. He was charged with two counts of fail to comply with the conditions of undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
