Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Shawn NEWMAN Charged

(NIPIGON, ON.) On August 31, 2013 at approximately 9:10 a.m. members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of theft of fuel from a business in Nipigon, Ontario. Schreiber members initiated a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle west of Schreiber on Hwy 17, Township of Killraine, at 9:55 a.m. After investigation, officers found that the suspect vehicle, a Dodge pickup truck, was reported stolen from Alberta.

The 33 year old male driver, Shawn NEWMAN, of Halifax, Nova Scotia was arrested and transported to Nipigon detachment. The male has been charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, and Possession of Break in Instruments contrary to the Criminal Code.

The male is being held in custody for a bail hearing on September 1, 2013 to answer to these charges.
