STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED – DRIVER ARRESTED

(NORTH MIDDLESEX-ON) – On Tuesday February 25, 2014 at 1:46 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report advising that a Pontiac Grand Am motor vehicle had been stolen as it was left running in a laneway on Tain Street, Parkhill.

While on route to the scene an officer observed the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Centre Road. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at which time the vehicle failed to stop and fled from police. A brief suspect apprehension pursuit (SAP) was initiated, where the driver later abruptly stopped the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. A foot pursuit comenced and the driver was placed under arrest a short time later. No injuries or damages were reported.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Timothy HAMMER, age 31 of London, ON with:

Theft of a Motor Vehicle-Under $5,000 as per Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 355(b) CC

Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer 249.1(1) CC

Drive motor vehicle – no licence as per Section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was remanded into police custody has been scheduled to appear in a London court room to speak to the charges.
