Stolen Vehicle Recovered – CLERMONT Charged

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON) – A 30-year-old male is in custody for a property crime.

On March 20, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter, and theft. Between approximately 10:00 p.m. on March 19, 2016, and 9:00 a.m. on March 20, 2016, culprit(s) attended a rural residential property on Mitchell Line. Once on the property, they trespassed and stole a blue Artic Cat all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and helmets from an outbuilding, and a red Chevrolet pickup truck from the driveway.

On March 22, 2016, at approximately 7:49 a.m., Middlesex County OPP officers observed the stolen pickup truck being operated in Thames Centre. The vehicle was stopped on Crampton Drive, where the driver fled on foot through a field. The male was apprehended by police without incident.

As a result of the police investigation, Ely CLERMONT, from London, Ontario, has been charged with:

Dangerous operation of motor vehicle CC 249(1)(a)

Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 in Canada CC 354(1)(a)

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon CC 92(2)

Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order CC 117.01(1)

The accused has been held in custody, and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on April 18, 2016.

The ATV and helmets are still outstanding.
