On December 7, 2015 the Owen Sound Police Service investigated the theft of a vehicle from the driveway of an east side residence. Since the theft the stolen vehicle had been involved in thefts of gas from service stations and police pursuits in Collingwood, the Barrie area and in London. In a coordinated effort between the Criminal Investigation Branch and the London Police Service the persons responsible for the crimes were identified.
On December 16, 2015, Owen Sound officers arrested a 20 year old man in Owen Sound in connection with a police pursuit in London on December 14th.. A short time after locating the male, police observed the stolen vehicle being operated in Owen Sound by a young female. Due to safety concerns from the earlier pursuits, plain clothes officers from the Owen Sound Police and Grey County OPP coordinated a strategic stop of the vehicle as it entered the Town of Durham. The youth was arrested without incident and is held in custody on the following charges:
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (2 counts)
Theft under $5000
Failing to comply with Probation.
The youth will attend a bail hearing on December 17th in Owen Sound court.
The male arrested was turned over to Huronia West OPP for further investigation on their charges.
