(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers including members from the Huron OPP Property Crimes Unit continue to investigate the theft and now arson of a Peterbilt transport truck.
Officers received a call yesterday afternoon at about 12:20 p.m. from a witness that reported seeing a vehicle on fire at the Howick Landfill station located on Harriston Road.
Howick Fire Department and Huron OPP officers attended the scene to discover the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The fire was contained however the vehicle was completely destroyed by fire. Officers were able to determine the vehicle was the 1990 white Peterbilt that was stolen on Sunday, May 14th, 2017 from Fordwich Line. In the course of their investigation officers discovered both sets of rear tires had been removed from the vehicle before it was set ablaze.
The truck was valued at approximately $38,000.
