(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) -Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous reports in Centre Wellington Township and Guelph-Eramosa Township about Canada Post Community Mailboxes being forced open. The incidents occurred between the dates of February 14 to February 21.
The Wellington County Street Crime Unit (SCU) took over the investigation and on February 22, 2014, a Fergus male was arrested.
Wellington County OPP would like to inform citizens that mail has been recovered from several residents’ mail boxes. As the investigation is ongoing, officers are still sorting through the recovered property and processing evidence for a successful prosecution. At this time investigators are working to identify the owners of the mail that has been recovered, and are in the process of notifying the rightful owners of the property. Officers will contact those people whose mail has been recovered and make arrangements for it to be returned. We ask that people please be patient and if your mail has been recovered you will be contacted in the near future.
