Stirling W. Young Released In Durham – Call 911 Immediately If Seen Near School, Public Park etc

The West Grey Police Service is alerting the public about a male party charged with sex offences involving children who has been released on a recognizance to reside in the Town of Durham.

Stirling W. Young, 44 was charged with the offences of sexual assault, sexual interference and luring a child contrary to the Criminal Code by the York Regional Police. He was released on a recognizance and his conditions include:

Not to be in the company of or communicate with directly males or females under 18 years except while in the direct company of his surety or while buying food or goods in a public place or unless they are family members; Do not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present or a daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre ; Not to seek obtain or continue with any paid or unpaid activity that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 16 years; Do not attend any hotel, motel or Inn expect in the direct company of his surety and reside with his surety in Durham, ON each and every night.

Under Regulation 265/98 of the Police Services Act, a Chief of Police or his designate may disclose personal information about an individual if he reasonably believes the individual poses a significant risk of harm to others persons or property and believes that such disclose would reduce that risk.

Please be aware that Mr. Young is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. As always, residents are reminded to be vigilant in regards to the safety of their children and report any suspicious people or activities in their neighbourhoods or public places.
