(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – An aggressive driver that was spotted tailgating and speeding along Huron Road has been arrested and charged with Impaired Operation. On October 12, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Toyota Matrix travelling westbound on Huron Road at a high rate of speed. A radar check on the vehicles’ speed showed the vehicle was travelling at 125 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver was also observed tailgating the vehicle in front of him.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver pulled over on Huron Road near Black’s Point Road. Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. Further investigation revealed the driver was displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for Impaired Driving and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath; both were over the legal limit.
As a result, Stewart THOMSON, 69, from Goderich has been charged with Impaired Operation, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Speeding. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 25, 2013. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
