Steven Tough: Flight From Police, Racing, Motorcycle Impounded

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday May 02, 2012, around 6:20 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer on patrol observed a fast moving motorcycle with two occupants on Perth Line 37 between Shakespeare and Stratford.

The officer activated the police radar and locked the east bound motorcycle’s speed at 135 km/h, which is 55 km above the 80 km/h posted speed limit. The officer activated the cruiser’s emergency lighting and followed the motorcyclist who refused to stop for police and sped away. A short while later the motorcycle was observed and pulled over on Huron Rd. at O’Loane Ave. by a Stratford police officer.

The male operator, Steven Tough (26) of Stratford, has been charged with “dangerous operation of a motor vehicle”, “flight from police”, “racing a motor vehicle”, and for “drive a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit”. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on June 04, 2012, to answer to these charges. His driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days and has been returned to the Ministry of Transportation. The 1993 Suzuki motorcycle has been impounded for 7 days.
