Steven GIBBONS – Drunk Driving & Drugs

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On January 27, 2018 at approximately 2:15 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrols on Elora Street, Harriston as a result of a traffic complaint received.

An officer located the suspect vehicle and observed it stop at a gas station on Elora Street.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the belief that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

A search of the vehicle incident to arrest located marihuana. The passenger was subsequently arrested along with the driver for possession of marihuana.

54-year-old Steven GIBBONS of Melancthon has been charged with Impaired Driving, Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and Possession of Marihuana under 30 grams. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on February 20, 2018.

28-year-old Joseph LEITCH of Guelph has been charged with possession of marihuana under 30 grams. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on February 20, 2018.
