While enroute, OPP received a second complaint moments later stating that a dark colored motor vehicle nearly caused a head on collision while traveling northbound on Forest Road. The vehicle narrowly avoided the collision but lost control, spun out and entered into the east ditch.

OPP attended the location and located a dark colored Mustang in the east ditch however no one was found with the vehicle. West Region OPP Canine Unit as well members of the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) were dispatched and attended the scene to assist in locating anyone involved in the collision.

Shortly after commencing the search, Canine located a male party hiding in a field approximately 30 meters from the vehicle. Officers formed reasonable grounds to believe that this was the driver of the vehicle and was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday April 24th, 2017.
