(Hawkesbury, ON) In the early evening of Sunday April 6th, 2014, at approximately
12:30 am, Constable John Léger stopped a 2006 Ford F250 pick-up truck on John Street in Hawkesbury.
Interaction with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that his blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit. The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.
During the intervention, the driver could not provide his driver’s licence to the officer since he did not have it in his possession.
Consequently, Steve MICHAUD (48 yrs) of County Road 18 in East-Hawkesbury, ON, was charged arrested under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.
He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with section 33(1) Driver fail to surrender licence.
He was later released on a promise to appear in court on April 23rd, 2014 in L’Orignal.
