(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On March 3, 2017 at 12:08 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police were alerted to a vehicle being driven on Highway 400.
Investigation has revealed that an officer was parked on the side of Highway 400 when a motorist stopped to inform the officer of a concern over another vehicle on the highway. There was concern over the way the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle details were given to the officer and it was located a short time later. Police spoke with that driver and it was believed he had been consuming alcohol.
As a result of the investigation;
Stanley FOTHERGILL, 64 years of age from Britt, Ontario was arrested and charged with;
Driving with more than 80 mgs, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC
The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 30, 2017 to answer to his charges.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
