(HAMILTON TWP, ON) –On June 8, 2015 at 9:47pm Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on County Road 28 and Browns Line. When officers arrived, they located a gold coloured Mazda lying on its roof in the ditch. No other vehicles were involved. The driver was identified and had received non-life threatening injuries.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene and assessed the driver who eventually declined any further treatment.
While investigating the cause of the collision, officers noted that the male driver smelled of alcohol. A roadside test was administered which resulted in a ‘fail’.
The man was arrested and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests.
As a result of these tests, Stanislaw WITCZAK age 65 of Lindsay Ontario is charged with having Care&Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 9, 2015.
