Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a St. Thomas man with stunt driving after police stopped him going in excess of 140km/hr in an 80km/hr zone. The incident occurred around 10:21pm on September 19th, 2014 on Talbot Line (Hwy#3) near John Wise Line, Southwold Township.
Police were conducting speed radar enforcement in the area when they observed the vehicle traveling west bound on Talbot Line at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was stopped and the driver charged. Police investigation also revealed that the drivers licence was suspended.
Police have charged John, Robert DESTROMP, age 43 of St Thomas with;
Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
DESTROMP was issued a Part III summons to attend Provincial Offences Court in St. Thomas at a later date. The vehicle he was operating has been impounded for 7 days.
