SPEEDING VEHICLE NETS NUMEROUS CHARGES

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Saturday July 05, 2014 at approximately 5:00 pm an officer from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 35 near Fairfield Bay Road in the Township of Minden Hills Ontario when he observed an approaching speeding vehicle. The officer clocked the Dodge Calibre at 110 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. When the officer turned his cruiser around to stop the speeding vehicle he observed the vehicle accelerate. The speeding vehicle was traveling at 150-160 km/h into oncoming lanes in an attempt to flee from the police. The vehicle almost lost control as it turned onto Taylor Road and then into a private driveway. The officer was able to follow the vehicle and arrest the lone male driver as he attempted to exit the vehicle. The male who had been consuming alcohol was transported to the OPP detachment for breath tests. As a result, Tracey Nesbitt age 48 from Algonquin Highlands Ontario has been charged with the following:

Flight From Police
Dangerous Driving
Fail to Comply With Probation Order
3-Day Drivers Licence Suspension, ‘Warn’ range alcohol

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario on August 06, 2014 to answer to the charges.
