(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) A vehicle stop recently conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the driver being charged and a quantity of marihuana being seized.
On August 6, 2013 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 115, within the City of Kawartha Lakes. The vehicle was going 132 km/h in a 100 km/h zone and was subsequently stopped by the officer.
During the investigation the officer determined that there was marihuana present in the vehicle. Approximately 29 grams of marihuana was seized. As a result of the investigation Brian SMITH, 68 years of age, of Peterborough, was charged with speeding and possession of a controlled substance.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on September 12, 2013.
