Speeder Caught Twice In 20 Minutes

(TILLSONBURG, ON.) Members of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), of Oxford County have charged a female with speeding twice within a twenty minute period.

On January 17, 2015 at approximately 8:40 p.m. police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, northbound on Broadway Street in Tillsonburg. The vehicle was travelling at an approximate speed of 100km/h in a posted 60km/h zone. At approximately 8:55 p.m. a different police officer observed the same vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 19 in Ostrander. The vehicle was travelling at an approximate speed of 93 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.

Based on the observations and investigative steps taken by the OPP officers, the female driver, 44 year old Lisa UZ of Waterloo has been charged with speeding under the Highway Traffic Act for both occasions.

Drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it difficult for drivers and pedestrians to react to change, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.

OPP would like to remind the motoring public to manage their time and respect all the rules of the road when travelling.
