(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – An Iroquois Falls, Ontario, man has been charged with a Street Racing offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act stemming from an event on August 23rd.
On August 23rd, an Ontario Provincial Police officer with the Highway Safety Division had occasion to observe a vehicle allegedly travelling at a speed of 50 km/h in excess of the posted speed limit on Frederick-House Lake Road. (east of Timmins).
The driver, a 30 year old man from Iroquois Falls, Ontario, has been charged and served with a Summons requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
Additionally, the vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 7 days.
The South Porcupine OPP reminds motorists that the obligations to be safe and responsible while behind the wheel rests squarely on the shoulders of the individual driver.
Those motorists who insist on driving at high rates of speed can rightfully expect a prompt and strict response from OPP officers who diligently patrol area roadways.
