Speeder And Sleeping Passenger Charged

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On September 18, 2016 at approximately 5:04 a.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Hwy 69 at the Key River construction zone. The officer observed a vehicle traveling more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit of 70 km/h. Upon stopping the vehicle, it was determined that the passenger was sleeping on a folded down seat.

Driver of the motor vehicle, Dmytro TESLYA, 20 years of age from Shelburne was charged with Performing a Stunt with a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The passenger of the motor vehicle, Sergii STEBLIANKO, 28 years of age from Toronto was charged with Fail to Occupy Position with a Seat Belt, contrary to the HTA.

The OPP would like to remind motorist of the importance of knowing their surroundings. It is the responsibility of the drivers to give their full attention to driving and to take their time in getting to their destinations.
