Special weather statement in effect for:
Goderich – Bluewater – Southern Huron County
Listowel – Milverton – Northern Perth County
Stratford – Mitchell – Southern Perth County
Wingham – Blyth – Northern Huron County
A low pressure area brewing in the Southern Plains States is forecast to deepen as it track northeast towards Southern Ontario early this week.
This weather system will bring a significant precipitation event to Southern Ontario on Tuesday. Accumulating snow and freezing rain are possible for Central and Eastern Ontario, with some snow, then freezing rain and rain possible for the rest of Southern Ontario closer to Lakes Erie and Ontario.
Latest indications are suggesting an increasing potential for freezing rain lasting several hours over a large part of the district on Tuesday.
There is still considerable uncertainty to the track of the low pressure area. This will of course affect how much snow, freezing rain, or rain will fall at a particular location.
Hazardous winter travelling conditions can be expected across Southern Ontario as a result.
Environment Canada will continue to closely monitor this weather system. Warnings may be issued as required as this event draws closer.
