South Simcoe Police Daily News Release – 01Aug2016

Fail to Remain Collision.

On Sunday, July 31 2016, at 7:20 p.m., South Simcoe Police received a call for assistance for a fail to remain collision. The caller was driving behind the suspect when he observed the collision. An Innisfil mother had pulled her car over to the shoulder on Innisfil Beach Road and was adjusting her child’s baby, when a passing vehicle struck her open door. The suspect vehicle failed to stop after hitting the stopped car and continued on Innisfil Beach Road. North Division officers located the vehicle a short distance away and pulled over the car. A 36 year old Maple man was arrested and is facing charges of Impaired Driving, Driving Over 80 mgs, Fail to Remain, Dangerous Driving, Driving While Disqualified and Novice Driver with Blood Alcohol Above Zero. The accused was released on a promise to appear.

Flight from Police.

On Monday, August 1st, at 2:15 a.m., South Simcoe Police received a call for a domestic dispute on a residential road in Alcona. A short time later, North Division officers observed the suspect vehicle travelling on Innisfil Beach Road with its head lights off. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle and the driver refused. A short suspect apprehension pursuit occurred before the driver ditched his vehicle and fled on foot. The Canine Unit was called in, and Police Service Dog Chase” and his handler arrested the suspect a 23 year old Barrie man a short distance away. The accused was taken into custody and charged with the following offences. A 23 year old Barrie man is facing charges of Driving While Prohibited
