SOUTH PORCUPINE OPP CHARGE SUSPENDED DRIVER

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – An officer with the South Porcupine OPP’s Highway Safety Division (HSD) has charged a local driver with Driving Under Suspension stemming from a routine traffic stop on July 31st, 2013.

While en route to his assigned patrol zone, the OPP officer had occasion to stop the driver of a pickup truck for an alleged driving violation on Hwy 101 in Mountjoy Township (Riverside Drive).

Based on the routine investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, it was determined that there are two separate suspensions in effect in the driver’s name in the province of Ontario.

Normand COUTURE, 52, of Timmins, Ontario, has been charged with 2 counts of Driving While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

COUTURE is required to attend Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days.
