Solar Panels Stolen From Roof Of St. Marys Business

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Tuesday August 16, 2011 Perth County OPP officers in St.Marys were called to a business on James St. South where six solar panels were stolen from the roof.

Investigation revealed that sometime between the end of July and August 16th unknown persons gained access to the roof of the business and removed six of the thirty six roof top solar panels. The removal of the panels requires specialized tools and electrical knowledge so as to avoid the risk of shock.

Owners of solar panels are urged to frequently check their panel locations for suspicious persons or activities. If you notice a drop in kilowatt output (on sunny days), check your panels for possible damage or theft. The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone who may have information about this theft or who knows the whereabouts of these panels to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
