(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP) – Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Georgian Fire, Georgian Ambulance, Muskoka Ambulance and Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) responded to a motorized snow vehicle collision on the Waters of Georgian Bay on Friday just after 10:00pm.
The operator of the snowmobile had struck a low bridge in the Cogneshene area on the waters of Georgian Bay. JRCC assisted by transporting the rider to the Georgian Bay General hospital.
Wayne MAILLOUX (age 55) of Tiny Township, ON sadly succumbed to his injuries sustained from the collision.
Investigators continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the cause of the collision.
