(PEMBROKE, ON) – On June 02, 2016 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the City of Pembroke. A quantity of marihuana plants were seized and charges were laid under the CDSA and the Criminal Code against a 34 year old man and a 32 year old woman, both of Pembroke. Both the male and female are charged with:
Fail to Comply with Probation
Produce a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana
The male was charged with one additional count of Fail to Comply with Probation. Both were held for a bail hearing. The female was subsequently released on a Recognizance of Bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 21, 2016. The male party is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on June 08, 2016.
The Fail to Comply with Probation charges stem from conditions imposed from a previous domestic violence incident involving both parties. As a result the names of the involved parties are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim from the domestic incident.
