Skye BLACKBURDE – Cause Death By Criminal Negligence

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – The Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy HEIDA of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), is continuing to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred on Development Road in Chapple Township, Rainy River District on May 15, 2016.

A passenger in the car, 25-year-old Marcella JOURDAIN, of Fort Frances, Ontario was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Skye BLACKBURDE of Fort Frances has been arrested and charged with numerous Criminal Code offences:

Cause Death by Criminal Negligence contrary to section 220(b);

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death contrary to section 249(4);

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death contrary to section 255(3); and with

Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content causing Accident with Fatality contrary to section 255(3.1).

The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on June 1, 2018 in answer to the charges.
