SIU Invokes Mandate Again

(KENORA, ON) On Thursday, February 4, 2016 at approximately 12:00 pm, an officer from the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 71, in the Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls.

Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected an odour of marihuana emanating from within the vehicle. As the officer continued with a drug related investigation, the male sustained an injury and was transported to the hospital.

The Province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified by the OPP and has invoked its mandate. Further inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
