(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON.) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in several incidents in the community.
On the afternoon of Sunday August 25th, officers responded a complaint of an intoxicated male in the lobby of one of the local hotels who was refusing to leave the premises. When officers attempted to arrest the indiviudal, he struggled with police. Charged with resist arrest is 28 year old Lance BEARDY of Sioux Lookout. BEARDY remains in custody at this time.
During the evening of August 26th, officers recieved several calls in the area of Second Avenue concerning an intoxicated male who was jumping on cars, swearing, and running around in his boxer shorts. Officers located the intoxicated male, who then resisted arrest. Charged with two counts of mischief to property, one count of resist arrest, and one count of causing a disturbance is 19 year old Courteney MEKANAK of Sioux Lookout. MEKANAK remains in custody for a bail hearing.
On the afternoon of August 27th, officers responded to a complaint at a local business on Front Street in regards to an intoxicated male disturbing the business owner. Officers attempted to arrest the individual, but the accused resisted. The gentlemen was eventually controlled where he was transported to the Sioux Lookout Detachment. While at the detachment, the accused assaulted a civilian guard and another inmate. Charged with one count of resist arrest, one count of cause disturbance, and two counts of assault is 43 year old Leonard TEEPAYOOK of Cat Lake, Ontario. TEEPAYOOK remains in custdy for a bail hearing.
