SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION RESULTS IN LANE CLOSURE HIGHWAY 401

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On January 3, 2014, just before 11:30 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Highway 401 westbound near the overpass at Communication Road.

The collision occurred when a tractor trailer jack-knifed in an attempt to avoid a collision with other vehicles which had slowed down on the highway. No injuries were reported.

Chatham-Kent OPP remain on scene of the collision. The right lane of the westbound lanes of Highway 401 remains closed at this time. Chatham-Kent OPP anticipates the closure of both westbound lanes this afternoon, for a duration of approximately one hour, to allow for the tractor trailer to be removed from the highway. Traffic will be diverted off the 401 Highway at Kent Bridge Road.

Charges are not anticipated.
