Shots Fired – POLICE INVESTIGATE INCIDENT ON ONEIDA OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION

(ONEIDA OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On August 3, 2013 at approximately 11:00 a.m. officers from the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service at a residence on Elijah Road on Oneida of the Thames First Nation.

When officers arrived, they encountered an armed male and gun shots were exchanged.

As a result of the encounter a male party was shot by police and is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The Province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) was notified and has invoked their mandate. Further inquiries should be directed to SIU communications at (416) 622-2342.
