Shoplifters Arrested

(NAPANEE, ON)- On Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 5:17 p.m. Officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a theft from Marks Work Wearhouse in Napanee.

Police attended and located a male in the parking lot who matched a description of a suspect who had reportedly stolen items from the business and was seen getting into a white Ford van.

Police arrested the male and a search of the van resulted in the seizure of meat and groceries stolen from Wal Mart, a jacket and four watches stolen from Mark’s Work Wearhouse, and grocery items stolen from the Dollarama.

Charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of theft under $5,000 is 39 year-old David CHANT of Seeley’s Bay.

Three passengers that were in the van were also arrested and charged.

Darrel DORSEY, 59 years of age, of Kingston faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime and theft under $5,000. Mark PERRY, age 38, or Kingston faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime and Alicia ATKINS, 42 year of age, from Loyalist Township faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of theft under, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

Both David CHANT and Alicia ATKINS were held in custody and are scheduled to appear today in Napanee at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing.
