(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – On March 12, 2016 at approximately 12:10 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a possible impaired driver on Highway 6 in Wellington North Township. Investigation revealed that the northbound 2012 Chevrolet Cruz crossed the southbound lane, entered the west ditch and struck a field entrance.
Officers arrived at the scene and observed the driver to be unsteady on his feet, slurring his words when he spoke with a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. The male was placed under arrest and taken to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
43-year-old Alan SHEPPARD of Wellington North Township has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 8, 2016 to answer to the charges.
