(NIAGARA FALLS, ON) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) – Niagara Falls Detachment investigated an individual who was stopped for speeding in a routine traffic stop and is now facing numerous criminal charges.
On Saturday July 30, 2016, at approximately 11:43 p.m., members of Niagara OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 420 in the City of Niagara Falls Ontario. Officers stopped a speeding vehicle and spoke with the driver. As a result of the investigation the driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Further investigation revealed additional Criminal Code of Canada (CCC), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Liquor Licence Act (LLA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violations. The driver was subsequently arrest for impaired driving as well.
As a result of the investigation the driver – identified as Shahabeldin Sayed MOHAMED, a 21 year old man from Scarborough Ontario is now charged with:
Refuse to provide a breath sample – sec. 254(5) CCC
Obstruct a peace officer – sec. 129(a) CCC
Possession of Cocaine and Marihuana – sec. 4(1) CDSA x2
Possession of Cocaine/other Drug for purpose of trafficking – sec. 5(2) CDSA x 2
Possession of Marihuana – over 30 grams – sec. 4(1) CDSA
Driving under suspension – sec. 53(1) HTA
Speeding – sec. 128 HTA
Driving with liquor readily available – sec.32(1) LLA
