(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) On Saturday September 7, 2013 at approximately 11:37pm, Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended to an incident that was reported to Cobourg Police Service (CPS) where a female victim stated she had been sexually assaulted after being picked up hitch hiking.
OPP uniform members from Northumberland Detachment in Cobourg attended with the assistance of the Peterborough OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) to the scene on Apple Orchard Road in Hamilton Township.
The female victim, who is from Greater Napanee area, reported that she had hitch-hiked to Cobourg and then made her way to Port Hope and was making her way back to Cobourg on County Road 2 when a pick-up truck with a male driver had stopped and picked her up.
The driver continued eastbound on County Road 2 only to turn north onto Apple Orchard Road and parked in a secluded driveway with the engine off.
The male suspect began to assault the victim in the truck, but she managed to get away and contacted the Cobourg Police Service for assistance.
The suspect is described as:
– male white
– in his 50’s,
– 5’5†tall, stocky build
– slight mustache with several days growth on the rest of his face
– Psoriasis of the face and hands.
CLOTHING:
– dark pants
– white sleeveless muscle shirt
– unkempt in appearance
– smelled of grease from a mechanics shop
VEHICLE:
– Blue 1990’s pickup truck with a large amount of rust
– no licence plate number obtained
– 6-8 yellow roof lights
– an aftermarket bumper or push bar
– small spider crack on the left side of the windshield
– a bench seat in the cab of the truck
– the truck bed contained what appeared to be welding tanks and scrap metal.
