(BRIGHTON, ON) –On July 18, 2015 at 12:01am a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Brighton area when he measured an eastbound white Chev van traveling 157 km/h. The officer noted that the van had difficulty maintaining its lane. The vehicle was stopped and the officer quickly determined that the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to the Brighton detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Morris GAUTREAU age 50 of Bathurst, NB is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle, Having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood and Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 29, 2015.
(HAMILTON TWP, ON) – On July 18, 2015 at 8:55pm Northumberland OPP received a driving complaint involving a silver Acura in the Centreton area. The vehicle was reportedly tailgating other vehicles at inconsistent speeds. Police located the car on County Road 45 and determined that the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Trevor BROOKINGS age 34 of Whitby, ON is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle and Having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 5, 2015.
(PORT HOPE, ON) – On July 18, 2015 at 11:45pm a Northumberland OPP officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Port Hope area when he measured a westbound grey Nissan Versa traveling 146 km/h. The car was stopped and the officer noted several crushed beer cans and a cooler in the back seat. Upon exiting the car, the driver fell forward into the officer at which time it was quickly determined that the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Ryan FOX age 40 of London, ON is charged with Impaired Care & Control of a motor vehicle, Having Care & Control of a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol content exceeded 80mg in 100ml of blood, speeding and driving without a licence. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 5, 2015.
(BRIGHTON, ON) – On July 19, 2015 at 3:00am a Northumberland OPP officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Brighton area when he measured a westbound red GMC pickup truck traveling 160 km/h. The truck was paced by the officer at speeds up to 175km/h prior to stopping it. The officer determined that the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to the Cobourg detachment for further tests. As a result of these tests, Barry GALLIVAN age 43 of CLARINGTON, ON was issued a 3 day licence suspension for having a blood alcohol content between 50-80mg in 100ml of blood while operating a motor vehicle. He was also charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed and having an expired validation sticker. He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Cobourg on August 19, 2015.
