Several Drivers Charged

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday May 25, 2013 shortly before 8 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a motorist on Perth Line 72 west of Newry for speeding and while doing so detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.

The male driver, a 43 year old Huron East resident was administered a roadside breath test on which he registered a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08 His licence was seized and has been suspended for 3 days. He also walked away with a speeding ticket.

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday May 25, 2013 around 11:30 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer observed a speeding car on Hwy. 23 south of Atwood. The officer also observed the driver was talking on a cell phone.

The vehicle was pulled over and the 26 year old male driver from Kincardine was found to be a suspended driver. He was served summonses for all three offences and is to appear in Stratford Court on July 09, 2013 to answer to the charges of speeding, drive with a hand-held communication device, and for driving while under suspension.

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Saturday May 25, 2013, shortly after 3 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer on patrol, in a marked OPP cruiser activated the police radar when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed on Perth Line 72 north of Milverton. The speed of the Mazda car was locked in at 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone (50 km above the speed limit).

The Mazda was operated by a 21 year old female driver from Kitchener who did not have a driver’s licence. She was issued summonses for racing a motor vehicle, and drive motor vehicle-no licence. The Mazda was towed from the scene and has been impounded for 7 days.

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday May 25, 2013, around 11 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer observed a vehicle drive by on Elizabeth St. East in Listowel with an open passenger side door. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the passenger in the vehicle hand an open container of beer.

The 22 year old male passenger, a North Perth resident was charged with having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place.
