(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision which occurred on February 4, 2015, at approximately 12:58 p.m. on Grand Bend Road.
A Dodge pickup truck was travelling southbound on Grand Bend Road. For yet to be determined reasons, the southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, and collided head on with a Ford pickup truck, travelling northbound, towing a trailer with a load of wood.
The lone occupant of the Dodge truck, 44 year old Richard WANT, from Bosanquet Township, Ontario, was trapped, and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the North Middlesex Fire Department. He was transported to hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition.
The lone occupant of the Ford truck, 21 year old Kevin KUSTERMANS, from North Middlesex, Ontario, was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries, and released.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
As a result of the collision investigation, Grand Bend Road was closed between McGillivray Drive and West Corner Drive for approximately 6 hours. It has been reopened.
This incident is still under investigation.
